We humans love to put things in a fixed order. Social conventions help us to create structures that we can hold on to. But to what extent do we miss out on new and unknown experiences that go against all norms?

Chaos Monkey aims to remind its users of these constraints on a daily basis and challenges them to actively break social conventions. The app thus opens up a thought space in which there is room for the absurd and things can be thought differently – because norms are there to be broken.

The app's 90s-style anti-design tries to do everything that minimalist UI/UX design doesn't want to do – namely be loud, obtrusive and ironic.

The project was honoured with the ADC Talent Award by the Art Directors Club in 2021.
